29 August 2023 - New Zealand announces draft legislation for a DST

New Zealand has announced the imminent publication of draft legislation for a digital services tax (DST) so that it is ready were it to be necessary from 1 January 2025. The Government says it has been actively participating in negotiations at the OECD for a multilateral agreement to address these issues but that progress is slow progress. While they have agreed not to bring in a unilateral measure such as DST until 1 January 2025, they have prepared legislation that is ready to go if the OECD process does not succeed.
