The government recently published a number of different consultations under the banner of the Good Work Plan. This included a consultation on proposals to create a single organisation, responsible for enforcing employment and worker rights such as National Minimum Wage, Holiday Pay, Agency Worker rights and potentially Sick Pay. Currently, a number of worker rights are governed by separate bodies, such as HMRC, and the enforcement regimes are not consistent.
The aim of the consultation and the proposed single body is to give greater protection to vulnerable workers, making it easier to seek help and guidance. The Government considers it will also help with more effective enforcement of employment and worker rights.
A link to an article explaining the contents of the consultation in more detail is here. We will be responding to the consultation and would welcome your thoughts and opinions.
We are delighted to welcome representatives from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) who published the consultation to a roundtable event in our PwC Manchester office on Tuesday 1 October.
This roundtable will allow you to share your thoughts and feedback with the Government and ask questions directly. It will also provide a forum to share and discuss queries with other employers.
It would be great to see as many employers (from a variety of sectors and of varying sizes) as possible at this event. Please find the details below:
